Is Driftwood a productivity app?
No. It's a place to put down what surfaces in your mind — dreams, ideas, memories, fragments — and nothing in it measures you. There's nothing to keep up with and nothing to fall behind on.
What does it cost?
Nothing during the beta. Pricing isn't final yet; when it is, the waitlist hears first, and founding members lock in their rate. Nobody gets charged before launch, and there's no card required to join.
Is there an iPhone/Android app?
Driftwood is an installable web app (PWA) — you add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app, including opening offline. There's no App Store download today. If a native app ever becomes necessary, it'll be because the PWA hit a real wall, not for the badge.
Does it work offline?
Text and voice capture work fully offline — fragments are stored on your device and sync when you're back online, keeping the time you wrote them. The installed app opens offline to your last-seen shore. Photo and sketch capture need a connection.
Who can read my writing?
In the running of Driftwood: only you. There is no admin view of anyone's fragments or Eido conversations — this is enforced in the database, not just stated in a policy — and support can see that an account exists and usage counts, never content. The honest asterisk every hosted service owes you: your data lives on servers and Driftwood isn't end-to-end encrypted, so a valid legal order could compel access. A service that stores readable data and promises even a court couldn't reach it is overselling.
Does Eido train on my words?
No. Your writing and conversations are never used to train AI models. Eido runs on a commercial AI API under terms that prohibit training on your data.
What is Eido, in one paragraph?
Eido is Driftwood's opt-in AI companion. It has read your fragments, remembers across conversations, and shows which of your writings it's drawing on under each reply. It can go as deep as you invite it to — offering what it sees as one reading, never a verdict — and it never assumes anything about your identity. Driftwood works completely without it. Full page →
Is it safe for difficult things?
It's built to be — privately stored, readable by no one else, with an AI companion that doesn't diagnose or advise and will point you toward real support if something needs more than a conversation. Driftwood is not a crisis service or a substitute for care; it's a private place to put things down.
Can I get my old journals in?
Yes. Photograph a notebook page — OCR reads it, you review and date it, and it lands in your history on its real date. Audio memos import via transcription. Tarot pulls and astrology or Human Design charts can come in as images, read into text.
How do I get everything out?
One zip: your writing as plain text and structured files, your Eido conversations, and every photo, voice recording, and sketch. Export and account deletion are both gated behind your password, and deletion actually deletes.
Why is it invite-only?
It's early, and small is deliberate — a few people using it hard beats a thousand using it thinly while the foundations settle. The waitlist is the way in; invites go out as spots open.
